August 13th:
Yesterday my oldest and I were headed out to go school clothes shopping. We hopped on the freeway and made it about 3 exits away from home when all the sudden there was an awful noise coming from underneath the car. So naturally I made my way off the freeway, I pulled onto the shoulder and got out of the car.
I looked underneath to see that it was the heat shield for the catalytic converter. Boy you gotta love living in the Midwest and everything rusting and dangling off. I went in the trunk and grabbed my broom (which I use to get snow off in the winter) and I proceeded to hammer away at this thing as hard as I could. Mind you, it's hot out, peak sun. I got over heated fast. All the while people are whipping past us, getting off the freeway on the off ramp were parked on.
So I got back into the car, told Nola what was going on and I told her that we ought to just pray too.
I called my husband to let him know what was going on. We are down to one car at the moment so I didn't have many options. My plan was to pray and drive to the nearest auto repair shop to see if they could just get the dumb thing off.
I stayed on the phone with my husband as I began to drive, I could hear it clanging and dragging under the car- then it stopped!
I had prayed that Jesus would just remove it for me and remove it he did! I thanked my husband for talking to me while dealing with the malfunction and Nola and I carried on our way.
When you don't have anyone to call for help and passersby don't stop and there of course isn't a cop in sight when you actually need one, Jesus stops by and helps.
Nola and I had a very productive school clothes shopping excursion. We got all that we needed and maybe a little more. Thank you Lord for making it possible, and calming me down a bit after that happened. Whew!
